New realities of life

Just happened to watch George Clooney's 'Up in the air'.The movie is awesome, the starcast is splendid and the concept makes you ponder over the realities of life. When I talk about reality I believe as we start growing older we start ignoring reality and surround ourselves in a cocoon of artificiality.I mean deep down subconsciously we are aware of the reality but we choose not to articulate it due to reasons amicable enough.

So let us sneak peek into why we behave like this? Ever since we are born there are two certainties of life before us-do it and do what.We go with the first one and then late in our lives we again start asking ourselves -were we meant to do what we are doing.I know what you are thinking-yes that is what exactly defines my misery.

Well I'd say it is common sense. To describe it I'd quote the 80/20 principle which says 80 percent of the wealth in this world is controlled by 20 percent of the global populace and vice versa.Ever wondered why-well technically because 80 percent of the global population are doing things that are not meant for them and that is precisely the reason they do not excel in these jobs.As a result of which they turn out to be mediocre and end up being unsucessful in all dimesions of life.

Talk about the economic realities of life and things will fall in place.Ever since the industrial boom started concepts like capitalism, socialism came up.People started following business models, econometric models. As technology started evolving people started living in a matrix-an environment where you were made to swallow conceptions which framed your future.Everything became subject to monotony-could be education, could be professional aspirations. Now people like us never asked why do it,due to either intimidation or social obligations etc etc.We simply obliged and became what we are.

As every semi decade or so when these economic downturns happen, that is when we realize-wish we were doing what we did best.In a way it is good because it takes us closer to our dreams but only if we execute them.

I think the only factor that makes us feel alive is the fact that we still have our loved ones.People with finite lifetimes but infinite love in their hearts which we miss out on in this wild rat race to excel.I mean even if we win we still would be a rat.Every moment we spend trying to excel in a field that we are not good at and gain money out of it rather than asking ourselves do what that makes us happy. It is this endless foolery which takes us to die with a feeling-wish I'd asked myself do what?

I think the new economic realities of life might be against Keynesian economics but they do serve well to make us aware of two important aspects of our lives-our dreams and our loved ones.Give it a thought and I am sure you would agree with me.
